The Spirit of African Surf - The AFROSURF Book Launch

South African surf brand, Mami Wata, launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund their 300-page AFROSURF book, which documents and celebrates surfing and related street culture in Africa, with profits going to two incredible African surf therapy organisations, Waves For Change and Surfers Not Street Children. 

Thanks to our coverage in Dazed, Hypebeast, AnOther Magazine, It’s Nice That, Creative Boom and much more, the Virgil Abloh-approved book smashed its fundraising target. Subsequent coverage included a significant double-page spread in the Guardian and resulted in the book becoming an Amazon second-best seller as a consequence.

500m+ impressions and 50+ pieces of coverage, Mami Wata has over raised £1.2m following the success to launch in the US.
